Email Sync

Cronus AI reads your Gmail or Outlook emails and processes only bank notification emails. It never accesses personal or unrelated messages.

Sync happens automatically every 15 minutes. You can also trigger a manual sync by pulling down on the main screen (pull-to-refresh).

We use OAuth 2.0 to connect to your account. The app never stores your password and requests only read-only permissions. Your email account stays under Google/Microsoft control at all times.

Go to Settings → Connected Accounts → Disconnect. You can choose to delete the transactions that were imported from that account.

Transaction Detection

Transactions are detected from the notification emails your bank sends when you make a payment, transfer, or deposit.

The AI system automatically extracts the amount, date, merchant name, and transaction type (expense, income, transfer) from each bank email.

Detection depends on the countries configured in your profile. Cronus recognizes bank email formats for the major banks in each activated region.

If a payment does not appear automatically (e.g., a cash payment or an unsupported bank), add it manually using the "+" button and selecting "Cash Expense".

Cash Expenses

Cash payments do not generate bank notifications, so Cronus cannot detect them automatically. They must be logged manually.

Tap the "+" button on the main screen, select "Cash Expense", enter the amount, category, and optional description, then save.

You can enable a daily notification to remind you to log your cash expenses. Configure it in Settings → Reminders.

Cash expenses show a wallet icon in your history and are included in all totals, reports, and budgets alongside bank transactions.

Security & Biometrics

You can secure the app with fingerprint or Face ID. If biometrics are not available on your device, a numeric PIN is used as fallback.

All financial data is stored locally on your device using SQLCipher encryption. No one can read your information without physical access to your unlocked device.

OAuth access tokens are stored in the Android Keystore, the OS-level secure store, and are never transmitted to our servers.

Cronus never requests or stores banking passwords. Email access is granted with limited read-only OAuth permissions only.

Country Settings

When you install the app, your primary country is auto-detected based on your location. You can change it in Settings → Primary Country.

If you have accounts at foreign banks, you can enable additional countries so Cronus can recognize emails from those banks too.

Configured countries determine expected email formats and currencies per region. A well-configured country list significantly improves detection accuracy.

When you have transactions in different currencies, Cronus displays the original amount on each transaction but converts everything to your primary currency for totals and reports.

Duplicate Transactions

Sometimes a bank sends multiple emails for the same transaction, or a single email may be processed more than once due to a sync error.

Cronus automatically analyzes amount, date, and merchant name to flag potential duplicates for your review.

Go to Settings → Duplicate Transactions. You'll see all groups of suspected duplicates, with the option to confirm or dismiss each one.

Deleting a duplicate only removes that specific entry. The original transaction remains intact in your history.

Expense Categories

Cronus automatically assigns a category to each transaction based on the merchant name. For example, "McDonald's" is categorized as Food & Dining.

Main categories include: Food & Dining, Transport, Entertainment, Health, Home, Clothing, Technology, Education, and more.

Tap any transaction to view its detail, then select the category to change it. The change applies to that transaction only.

The Reports screen shows a breakdown of your spending by category, lets you compare periods, and helps identify where you spend the most.

AI Financial Assistant

The AI assistant can answer questions about your spending, provide personalized financial tips, and generate natural language summaries of your financial activity.

"How much did I spend on restaurants this month?" / "Which category do I spend most on?" / "Give me a summary of last quarter's finances." / "How can I reduce my fixed expenses?"

The assistant has contextual access to your financial history to deliver accurate, personalized answers. Your data never leaves the app.

The AI assistant is available exclusively for Premium plan subscribers and requires an internet connection to work.

Reports & Charts

You can view reports by day, week, month, or year. You can also compare two different periods to track the evolution of your spending over time.

Cronus includes pie charts (by category) and bar charts (time comparison). Both are interactive and optimized for mobile screens.

The balance shows the difference between detected income and total expenses for the selected period. A visual bar indicates whether you are in the positive or negative.

Premium users can export their transactions and reports to an Excel file (.xlsx) directly from the Reports screen.

Data Privacy

All your financial data is stored locally on your device with strong encryption. Cronus does not upload financial information to external servers.

Emails are processed locally to extract transaction data. We do not store full email content — only the extracted financial data.

The only account data stored on our servers is your registration email address, which is required for authentication.

Signing out of the app permanently deletes all local data (transactions, settings, tokens). This action cannot be undone.

The Premium subscription is billed monthly through Google Play Store. The price is shown in your local currency at the time of subscription.

You can cancel at any time from Google Play settings. You'll keep Premium access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Make sure bank notification emails are arriving in the linked inbox. Also verify that your bank's country is configured in the app.

Cronus data is 100% local. When switching devices, you'll need to reconnect your email and the app will re-sync transactions from scratch.

No. Cronus only reads emails. It has no access to your bank accounts, cannot make transfers, and cannot query balances directly with the bank.

You can edit the category of any transaction from its detail screen, mark it as a personal transaction (to exclude from shared reports), or delete it if it's an error.

Voiding Transactions

Voiding a transaction excludes it from all balance calculations, reports, and budgets, but it remains visible in your history with a special tag.

Open the transaction detail and tap "Void Transaction". A confirmation prompt will appear before proceeding. The void is reversible.

Use it for erroneous charges, refunded transactions, or transfers between your own accounts that shouldn't count as income or expense.

Open the voided transaction's detail and tap "Revert Void". The transaction will be re-included in all calculations.
